InstaOutreach for Mac
Current version v0.2.50
- macOS 13 Ventura or later
- Apple silicon (M1 and newer) and Intel Macs
- The desktop widget needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later
Install it with one command. After that the app updates itself.
- Open Terminal: press Cmd + Space, type Terminal, press Return.
- Copy this command and paste it into Terminal.
curl -fsSL https://instaoutreach.com/desktop/install.sh | sh - Press Return. InstaOutreach opens by itself when it is done, usually within a minute.
What the command does
- Downloads the newest version built for your Mac's chip (Apple silicon or Intel).
- Checks the file's SHA-256 fingerprint against ours and stops if they differ.
- Closes InstaOutreach if it is running, then replaces the app in your Applications folder. Your sign-in and settings stay.
- Opens the new version. It never asks for your password and needs no admin rights.
Why Terminal and not a normal download?
InstaOutreach is not notarized by Apple yet. Notarization is Apple's automated check for apps that are not sold in the App Store. When a browser downloads an app without it, macOS stops it and asks you to allow it in System Settings (the .zip route below).
Terminal's download skips that prompt. The command also clears the download flag on the InstaOutreach app only. It does not change any macOS security setting and does not touch other apps.
A notarized download is on the way and will replace this command. Want to read the script first? Open the install script.
What's new in v0.2.50
Each account window's side panel is now Home: what ran, what is planned and the log, with today's numbers or any past dates, plus mode, source and active hours at the top. The source chip opens one menu for campaigns and their sources: pause or resume a campaign, switch its group, add or remove hashtags, accounts, posts and lists, or add the profile or post open in the window.
Or download the .zip
Not sure which Mac you have? Open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac. "Chip: Apple M..." means Apple silicon; "Processor: Intel" means Intel.
How to open it after a .zip download
- Open the downloaded .zip to unpack it, then drag InstaOutreach into your Applications folder.
- Open InstaOutreach. macOS says it cannot verify the app. Click Done (not Move to Bin).
- Open System Settings and go to Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Security.
- Next to "InstaOutreach was blocked", click Open Anyway and enter your Mac password.
- Click Open Anyway once more in the box that appears. macOS remembers this, so you only do it once per version.
Uninstall
Removing the app does not delete your InstaOutreach account or your campaigns. Those stay on the dashboard.
How to remove InstaOutreach from your Mac
- Quit InstaOutreach: click its icon in the menu bar and choose Quit, or press Cmd + Q in the app.
- Drag /Applications/InstaOutreach.app to the Bin. If you installed without admin rights, it is in the Applications folder inside your home folder instead.
- Remove its data: in Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, and delete ~/Library/Application Support/InstaOutreach and ~/Library/Logs/InstaOutreach. This signs the app out and deletes the Instagram sessions it kept.
- Open System Settings > General > Login Items and remove InstaOutreach if it is still listed (it can also show as Electron).
- Optional: open Keychain Access and delete InstaOutreach Safe Storage if it is there.
- If you added the widget: right-click it on the desktop or in Notification Center and choose Remove Widget.
